Croatian Academic Sports Federation Marks 30th Milestone Anniversary

Haris-Pavletic-CASF-President

The Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) marked a significant milestone in its history with the celebration of its 30th anniversary on February 7, 2024[^1]. This momentous occasion was commemorated at an event hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport in Zagreb, which not only celebrated three decades of CASF’s service but also paid tribute to the outstanding athletes and teams from the previous academic year[^1].

During the gala, Haris Pavletic, President of CASF, expressed his gratitude towards the CASF Board members for their steadfast dedication to the growth of the Federation over the years[^1]. The support from various sectors, including the state, higher education institutions, sports authorities, the European University Sports Association (EUSA), and the International University Sports Federation (FISU), was acknowledged as invaluable to the Federation’s success[^1]. Pavletic also took the opportunity to highlight significant achievements such as the creation of a commemorative book and a special edition of UniSport Magazine, alongside CASF’s bid to host the EUSA Games in 2028 in Split[^1].

Esteemed guests graced the event, including Mr. Zoran Milanović, President of Croatia, Mrs. Nikolina Brnjac, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Professor Dragan Ljutić, President of the Croatian Rector’s Conference[^1]. Each dignitary emphasized the crucial role that sport plays in university students’ lives and pledged ongoing support for CASF’s initiatives[^1].

Leonz Eder, President of FISU, conveyed his warm congratulations to CASF through a letter, praising the Federation for its contributions to university sports on local, regional, and global scales[^1]. He looked forward to CASF’s future projects, highlighting its commitment to promoting sportsmanship and international cooperation[^1]. CASF has been recognized within FISU for hosting several prestigious events, including the 14th Summer Universiade and World University Championships in Rowing and Kayak in 1998, as well as the World University Championships in Bridge in 2014[^1].

Looking ahead, CASF is preparing to host the FISU World University Championships Cheerleading in Split and the FISU World Forum in Zagreb in early August of this year[^1]. These events will further reinforce CASF’s dedication to shaping the future of university sports and fostering a global community united by health, sportsmanship, and excellence[^1].

As it stands, CASF continues to be a pillar of excellence in Croatian university sports, committed to nurturing athletic talent and upholding the values of fair play and international solidarity[^1].
