Students Serve Romania: LU Serve Now Collaborates with Greater Europe Mission

On February 10, a group of ten Liberty University students and two staff members concluded a seven-day mission trip in Bucharest, Romania, organized by LU Serve Now in collaboration with Greater Europe Mission[^1]. The initiative was part of a broader effort to provide aid to refugees impacted by the recent military actions in Ukraine, working alongside UBC22, a Christian-social-humanitarian organization dedicated to this cause[^1].

The mission was spearheaded by Emily Dye, the projects coordinator for LU Serve, and Dawson Bley, the student development coordinator for LU Serve[^1]. Their leadership facilitated a range of activities, from practical day-to-day assistance such as cooking and cleaning to more strategic efforts like packing supply boxes destined for Ukraine. These boxes were prepared at an offsite warehouse and included essential food items and other supplies for frontline areas within Ukraine[^1].

Beyond the tangible work, the team placed significant emphasis on fostering relationships within the local community. They engaged in ministering about Christ, which, according to Dye, sometimes involved simply sitting down and having meaningful conversations with individuals[^1]. This relational approach was echoed by senior student Andie Light, who found the opportunity to share the gospel and build connections in a new cultural context to be a highlight of the experience[^1].

The trip also served as a spiritual journey for the participants, with Dye expressing a desire for the students to grow closer to Christ through their involvement with the organization and the international community[^1]. Light’s reflections confirmed this sentiment, as she recounted the impact of witnessing Christ’s movement throughout the trip and the deep friendships formed both with Romanians and fellow students[^1].

LU Serve Now opens applications for its student team each semester and typically organizes multiple mission trips annually, responding to community needs and seeking to expand its international work through partnerships with organizations like Greater Europe Mission[^1].
